WatchKit apps / extensions and iOS backward compatibility

I have an iOS app with its deployment target set for iOS 6.1 and the base SDK for the latest iOS. I added both the Watchkit app to the project WatchKit, but I need to understand how this will affect future sending to the App Store:

1) Are two executable files created? One for the iOS + WatchKit extension and one for the WatchKit app? Or is everything packed into a unique executable file?

2) Will the version of the iOS device that installs the application be automatically processed? I mean: the user will download and install the update from App Store, and then she will be asked to install the iOS application only if its version is 8.1, and asked to install the iOS application and the WatchKit application if it is iOS 8.2+ and paired Apple Watch? Has Apple Provided Such Information?
