Hash password storage - varchar vs varbinary

Is there a real difference (does this mean any added [security] value to do this anyway) when storing the password hash as varchar or varbinary?

Not really.

Saving it as varbinarywill allow you to use characters outside of your current code page. You can avoid this by using nvarcharover varchar.

Saving in quality varbinarywill also lead to the fact that the data will be presented in hexadecimal format, but this is really not a serious level of protection.

varbinary , , , .

/, , .
