Will there be support for Spark Clojure?

I'm going to start learning functional programming, and Clojure appeals to me the most; I love its community, syntax, and the concept of immutable data structures. I am also interested in bio-industrial ML for Numenta rich data . However, my great concern is that Spark does not yet support it, and Spark rock !!! There is a Flambo Flambo Clojure , but is this a satisfactory solution?

My course and work at Scala. Should I win and enter the world of Scala, or do you think I should focus solely on Clojure?

Being an author or Sparkling (thanks to Josh Rosen for pointing this out), I can tell you that we use it in our company to process ETL.

Here's the good thing:

  • it provides a Clojuristic way of interacting with Spark, and as you can see in the presentation "Big Data with Style - Clojure / Spark"
  • it is optimized for performance
  • it is used in production, and there are others using it

Here is what is missing:

  • There is currently no support for Spark Streaming, Spark SQL, Spark Dataframes or Spark ML. This may happen in the future, I am glad to accept applications for requests, but at the moment this is not the main focus (at the time of writing, April 2015).
