WatchKit presence detection in the app

I have an application that I want to conduct in a different way when it comes to updates and caching, if the WatchKit extension is installed on your paired Apple Watch than if it weren’t. If the extension of the watchdog timer has a chance to start (you have paired the clock and the application is installed), then I want to do heavier caching.

Is there any way I can determine if the Apple WatchKit extension is installed on the Apple Watch from my iOS app? Except for checking the box on first run and hope it won’t be deleted after that?

  • activate application groups from "target → Capabilities"
  • Try using this code on a device that should know that the companion application is running.
