Difference between POS input modes (field 22)

I was wondering if anyone could help me understand the difference between ISO 8583 Field 22i.Pos Entry Mode. I already know that:

  • 52 means ICC Card
  • 80 in case of return

But I want to know the difference between

  • 22 (magnetic strip)
  • and 90

The length of field 22 is usually 3 digits (or 4 digits if it is BCD packed in two bytes) in protocols based on ISO 8583: 1987 or 12-digit digits in protocols based on ISO 8583: 1993. Individual protocols may use different content subfields and values ​​meaning the value.
