Delete unused files and folders in an existing project

Question

I recently started working on this php project, which included some previous developers.
These developers did a bit of work, which led to a huge number of different files in PHP, as well as javascript files and style sheets.
I would like to reduce the number of files and folders, as they now exceed 17kand 5.4kaccordingly.

Can I specify unused files for deletion? Perhaps when navigating a site, for example. whitelists which are used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
