How to add words to aspell dictionay

I use aspell in my application for spell checking. I do not know how to add words in aspell. Can I add words

To add the words you are submitting to the list. If the word has an asterisk in front, it is added to the current dictionary. If there is one line with a hash, then the newly added words are stored in the user's personal dictionary, and then can be used through the system.

echo "*WORD\n#" | aspell -a
