Using ZODB temporary storage

There is an option in plone.recipe.zope2instancezodb-temporary-storage that is used to replace the default temporary storage definition of Zope.

When is this recommended? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

By default, the recipe includes a temporary storage service for storing session data:

Temporary folders are Zope folders that are temporarily used to store objects. Temporary folders act almost exactly like a regular folder with two significant differences:

  • Everything in the temporary folder disappears when Zope restarts. (The contents of the temporary folder are stored in RAM).

:

<zodb_db temporary>
    # Temporary storage database (for sessions)
    <temporarystorage>
      name temporary storage for sessioning
    </temporarystorage>
    mount-point /temp_folder
    container-class Products.TemporaryFolder.TemporaryContainer
</zodb_db>
