Can I give discounts on subscriptions in the app?

I have a custom subscription plan in my application. So, for the first time, the user must pay 100% of the money. From the second time the user will have a certain discount. There seems to be no easy way to implement it.

My approach:

• Do not use subscriptions at all and use products instead.
• create two different SKUs and show the first user SKU for the first time.
• Make the second SKU expendable and show it to the user the second time.

Is there a better way to provide discounts?

It is currently not possible to change the price of a subscription. You can create a new, cheaper subscription plan, but you cannot change the price of an existing subscription.

Of course, you could charge if the user subscribes for a year instead of a month, but I'm not sure if this suits your needs.

Another option is to offer a “downgrade” in a month, which seems like your decision, but unfortunately there is no official way to do this.
