Currently, Windows 10 / Edge users appear with user-agent :

Mozilla/5.0+(Windows+NT+10.0;+Win64;+x64)

So far, my research points to Windows+NT+10.0 , which is the key value in this situation, and they appear as the version of the operating system = NT.

The OS is not yet isolated in GA, but you can view hits using the following filters:

  • Audience > Technology > Browser and OS
  • Primary Measurement = Operating System
  • Secondary Measurement = Operating System Version
  • Choose NT

While we see historical activity for NT , which has been returning for many months, we see a certain surge in hits today (RTM end date for Win10 for those who visit this post from the future).

UPDATE - 05/08

Windows 10 and Edge browsers are now available as first-class properties in Operating System and Browsers respectively

UPDATE - 12/08

Both the "Windows 10" and "Edge" sizes show far fewer hits than NT . I am not sure if this is correctly registered with GA.

Edge is currently displayed as the Chrome version in GA. Each release was listed with a unique version of Chrome. You can use whatsmyagentstring.com to find the latest line of Edge UA and get the version of Chrome browser.

Browse the Chrome stats for this UA and you will find Edge.

This is what happened when Edge was released using the User Agent "Mozilla / 5.0 (Windows NT 10.0) AppleWebKit / 537.36 (KHTML, for example, Gecko) Chrome / 42.0.2311.135 Safari / 537.36 Edge / 12.10136"

This is Chrome 42.0.2311.135 http://1drv.ms/1JvKSCz

And this is what happened with the earlier Spartan UA project, which contained Chrome / 39.0.2171.71

This is Chrome / 39.0.2171.71 http://1drv.ms/1JvKsMg

Hopefully Google will add Edge soon and simplify issues, but until then I hope this helps!

When I used useragentstring.com , and in the Windows 10 virtual machine, the useragent lines were almost identical. Edge on Win10 64 bit Chrome on Win10 64 bit As @ MattS-LNO said in his answer, the version of Chrome that is used in the useragent Edge line is unique to Edge. In my screenshot, my version is 42.0.2311.135, which is the preview version. But this version doesn’t really exist as Chrome releases go. In addition, "Edge / 12.10162" has been added, but GA still does not recognize it.

Here is the extended segment available in the Google Analytics Solution Gallery as a temporary solution (find the Edge Browser there). https://www.google.com/analytics/gallery/#posts/search/%3F_.term%3Dedge%20browser%26_.start%3D0%26_.viewId%3D7WxOe8NJRsa2kN-fryOrcQ/

Basically, you segment the version of the operating system, which will be either NT or a phone.

Helped me a lot.

Update: A bit outdated, but here is a good explanation http://www.internetrix.com.au/blog/microsoft-edge-browser-is-not-detected-in-google-analytics/

From what I see, at the present time and in fact there are no unconfirmed reports that statistics are recorded as Google Google Analytics, because they use the same User Agent

Mozilla / 5.0 (Windows NT 10.0) AppleWebKit / 537.36 (KHTML, e.g. Gecko) Chrome / 42.0.2311.135 Safari / 537.36 Edge / 12.10136
