Is the AMP project only useful for schema.org/NewsArticle?

We recently launched our AMP website to help mobile users. Now we submitted our site map to Google Webmaster Tools and added the correct one rel="amphtml".

However, webmaster tools show my entire page with “Missing Supported Structured Data Item” and a link to https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/articles

I understand that this is necessary for Top Stories features , that I did not know that any other structured data does not seem to be indexed by Google.

Is AMP useless for unstructured data?

Edit: video is also supported.

Depends on how people get to your AMP page.

For the time being, top story features are the only place AMP is used - if your site doesn’t direct people to AMP pages? Therefore, in this sense, AMP is only useful for NewsArticle documents. Although Google said this list is likely to grow rapidly.
