Firebase prototype identifier: what characters can be inside?

For the application I am creating, I want to use the identifier generated by Firebase push as the local part of the email address. Since dash(-) is not allowed as the first character, I would like to replace it with another character.

However, this should be reversible. So I want to know what characters the push Firebase identifier is with? So far I have seen:

  • alpha (az and AZ and 0-9)
  • underline (_)
  • dash (-)

Example: -KD3rcGMuucRDjKOTK3O

  • Are there any other characters that may be contained in the ID?
  • Do firebase identifiers always start with a dash?
