MongoDB 3.2 - Use cases for updateOne over findOneAndUpdate

Question

One of my deepest curiosities of the day.

I understand that findOneAndUpdate provides an atomic operation, so I assume updateOne does not.

But I really do not know the great advantages of avoiding an atom, which could calculate the cost of having to spend extra time on reasoning and check whether these updates were atomic or not.

Some insight or use case will be great!
