How to set up Xfig on a Mac?

The user manual says what I need

Get the source xfig (xfig.3.2.5-alpha3.full.tar.gz) and run and unzip the file: either run: gunzip -c xfig.3.2.5-alpha3.full.tar.gz | tar xvf - or gunzip xfig.3.2.5-alpha3.full.tar.gz tar xvf xfig.3.2.5-alpha3.full.tar

He also said that

There is an xfig version ported to MacIntosh under Darwin's XFree86 port.

But I did not find how to configure XFree86 and even xfig, since I am very new to Mac OS or UNIX.
