I am trying to understand if it is a requirement to install IIS in order to enable TCP / IP communication in SQL Server Configuration Manager with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
I would rather have a database on my own server with TCP / IP enabled, and then IIS with PHP on a second server that points to the database at a different IP address. I just want to confirm that IIS is not required on the database server for this feature to exist.
