Group leader

Question

I am trying to configure what the group leader is and how it relates to the I / O module, but have not found anything useful on the Internet. Can someone explain to me?

I have the following script from Elixir 1.2 (Dave Thomas):

In the second window, why does it pass :erlang_group_leader? What is it good for?

From the documentation :

group_leader() -> pid()

Gets the process identifier of the group leader for the process evaluating the function.

group_leader(GroupLeader, Pid) -> true

:

GroupLeader = Pid = pid()
