Is the setsid command missing in OS X?

I mean, I can’t use it in bash, is it not available on OS X or is it just missing on my Mac?

This is not a PATH variable problem because I was looking for the find command and there is no file named setsid on my Mac at all.

If there is no OS X, is there an alternative? Or if this is the case when I somehow deleted it by accident, where can I find a copy of it?

Yes. /usr/bin/setsidnot available on Mac OS / X.

An OS interface is available, so based on the chapter in Chapter 2, there might be some hope of moving the Linux source to Darwin.
