Are Kinesis messages encrypted when they are stored on AWS?

The encryption mechanisms of the generated Amazon Kinesis Stream application follow the same principles as for any other application that you create on AWS. So, here are the questions you need to ask yourself:

  • Do you control the encryption method and the entire KMI?

In this case, you are responsible for the encryption / decryption process, and for managing and using keys with which AWS does not have access.
