Cordova ios icon (and splash) not displaying using ion resources

Question

I know that there have been several reports of this, but none of them work. My Android platform works fine and shows the application icon and popup, but the ios platform refuses to show them. I tried several different places in the folders, and I used ionic resourcesto automatically create image files and place them in the right folders and to populate the config.xml file, which should work. I don’t even know where the application gets the image of the Cordoba robot from; I can’t find it anywhere. I launched cordova platform rm ios && cordova platform add iosand ionic platform rm ios && ionic platform add ios, but to no avail. I am using Cordova 6.1.1 with ionics.
