How to fix git thread descriptor for old version or point version of older version

How does the git thread handle the fix after the wizard has moved far beyond this version?

Scenario

  • It works 1.0 for development, stabilizes in the release release / v1.0 and is pushed off in an accelerated merge with the v1.0 tag, which points to the tip of the master and the tip of the stabilization branch.
  • Releases 1.1 - 3.2 take place in much the same way.
  • We need to fix a bug in 1.0

    • branch
    • from tag v1.0
    • perform the fix
    • drain to where?

The master is far in the future, and any merger would not be fast, advanced and funny, for example, in conflict.

Would I merge to release the stabilization branch and create a new tag? Is this what future fixes will use as a starting point?
