I found information about the “instant update” function in the paypal express check version:

Is the functionality available using the "Remaining payment api" function? we have the same with our cart page where the customer can pay using PayPal. if they change their shipping details in PayPal, we need to recalculate the shipping cost.
Does anyone know if this is possible?
