Insufficient amount when trying to get Docker Hub directory

I am trying to get a list of directories for a Docker hub, but so far I'm just getting an error. I understand that I will need to transfer the carrier token with the directory request, so I start by getting this token with the corresponding scope:

curl -u "username:password "https://auth.docker.io/token?service=registry.docker.io&scope=registry:catalog:*"

(this uses the username / password from my Docker Hub account)

Then I pass the returned token to the registry:

curl -vL -H "Authorization: Bearer eyJhbGciOiJFUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6I(...)" https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/_catalog

In response to this request, I get:

*   Trying 54.86.130.73...
* Connected to registry-1.docker.io (54.86.130.73) port 443 (#0)

... which seems to be asking me to come back and get authorization with the above URL.

If possible? If so, what am I missing?
