Apple ping with regular buzzing sound

I have a small but complicated question about the useful loading of apple push notifications on iOS.

From what I know, a push message payload can have sound (length <= 30 seconds), text, and icon. Now what I want with my iphone application is that the push notification sent by my provider (server) to this application on the iPhone screen constantly buzzes at a regular interval (say, every 1 min) until the user closes notification on the screen (i.e., checking the message). Consequently, the notification will play sound continuously and stop when the user picks up and launches the application.

Is it possible? How?

PS: this is a corporate application and will not be deployed to the App Store.

Thanks in advance.

Yes it is. Here is how you could implement this:

  • Register device for push notification
  • Send a push message with ref to sound every 30-60 seconds
  • Every message expires after 30-60 seconds, making room for a new one
  • When the user re-opens the application, register the application as re-open on the server and stop sending push notifications

I don’t know how it will look in the notification center, but you can check and see :)
