How can I send data / text with PHP using WebSocket for processing?

Question

I have a process on a server that acts like a WebSocket server (not written to Ratchet). I want to be able to send data to this process using PHP (as a client).

I found many examples to send as TCP:

Is there any way to make it work with curl in php?
