How to change the domain of my account in Team Foundation Server

We are moving from one domain to another, and I would like to be able to save the same workspace, user settings, history, etc.

Is there a way to change only my domain or login to Team Foundation Server?

Here's a link to an MSDN article titled β€œHow to Move Team Foundation Server from One Environment to Another,” which I think answers your question:

I don't know the answer, but I know enough about TFS to get a little scared.

If I understand you correctly, do you want to change the domain that your users authenticate with, but you want all the same user IDs pointing to the same accounts in TFS?

TFS is highly integrated with Active Directory and stores AD SIDs all over the place. It is also very sensitive to AD configuration changes.

It seems that I remember one client whom I know about who did this before, but I can not find details about it now. I believe that it is best to call Microsoft Product Support and raise an incident with support, because I have vague memory that there is some special tool that needed to be launched, but I could be wrong.

Good luck

Martin.

I know that your login name is done through a domain controller, but I don’t know how this will work when switching the domain where your TFS is located. Are you trying to move which domain is included in the TFS installation or which domain is on your PC?
