Firefox plugin to quickly copy text with its formatting?

When viewing a webpage, I would like to copy the selection of text with its html formatting in one piece. Meaning, if any text is highlighted in bold and blue, I want the tool to create a style or class in html that makes the text blue. Everything is contained in the generated html.

I downloaded a similar plugin, but class definitions are still external, which means I have to get them separately. A non-technical user would be at a loss here. I want the user to be able to copy and paste to a new web page, and this page just works correctly, because the copied html contains everything.

This should not be an FF plugin. It can be IE or a Windows application.

I think you can do this using the Firebug extension for Firefox. I often use it to export the contents of a web page to recreate a similar object. Is it too technical? I think Firebug is a powerful, viable option that is worth exploring.

I think the copy operation is doing this already. If I copy this page and paste it into a WYSIWYG editor such as TinyMCE (included in Wordpress), I get formatting. For example, the text of this page (as inserted):

<h2><a href="http://stackoverflow.com/questions/365603/firefox-plugin-to-copy-text-with-its-formatting-intelligently">Firefox plugin to copy text with its formatting Intelligently?</a></h2>

HTML markup is copied, but not external CSS. I suspect I'm creating a piece of CSS that applies to your individual piece of code, the style it had in the DOM hierarchy would be terribly difficult, if at all possible.

Try SnappySnippet , this is a Chrome extension that allows you to copy html and all the associated CSS style. It integrates into the Chrome console. Hope this helps
