I used clusters in industrial and academic settings, but they belonged to the organizations I worked on. I never bought time from a company that sells cluster / cloud / grid time.
Suppose I want to run some computationally intensive program, such as a simulation or data mining application. Or maybe I want to optimize the complete assembly of a large package of products by performing a distributed assembly on a third-party infrastructure. Where can I buy cluster time to run such programs?
I am interested to know about clusters that use popular OS platforms such as Linux, BSD, Mac OS X and Windows.
Obviously, today there is a solution for building your own cluster using fast and cheap hardware, but I'm particularly interested in a third-party solution.
