SVN Error "Unexpected end of svndiff login"

Question

I have a problem with svn where running 'svn up' causes the following error:

svn: Unexpected end of svndiff input

Ironically, running 'svnadmin check repository_path' also returns the same error. This happens with existing working copies and new working copies.

Has anyone solved this problem before? We have been using svn for several years and know our way pretty well, but it has us at a standstill!

if a

svnadmin verify repo/path

returns the same error, then your repository is corrupted (maybe a bad hard drive?).

try to run

svnadmin recover repo/path

If this does not help, you may need to restore the repository from backup.
