I have been developing with XHTML, CSS and Javascript for about 4 years now.
I like it a lot and hate it a bit. I was looking a bit for Flash and Silverlight, but as a developer, I'm not too keen on them.
One reason is that they block you as a supplier and tend to use these tools for suppliers. For example. Adobe Flash or Microsoft Visual Studio, etc.
In addition, Silverlight seems to mix content, layout / style and behavior and one markup language, while I like the way XHTML is used to separate them in code, but combine them into a custom web browser.
I also welcome the usability of the Internet, for example. back, hyperlinks, etc., which are the standards set in stone that people are used to dealing with.
However, I see a lot of support for Silverlight and Flash. As for the .NET Developer jobs, I see fewer jobs for /.NET front-end developers and more jobs for Silverlight / .NET developers.
Will the HTML developer work in the future, or should I upgrade to a proprietary platform like Silverlight?
