Do you recommend SharpDevelop for testing C # on Linux?

I am going to try C # in my Linux window. Do you recommend SharpDevelop as my IDE or Notepad + compiler only?

Definitely go to MonoDevelop. Visual Studio is a large part of the C # /. Net "programming experience." If you write it in a notebook, you will not get the same.

Mono is probably best for you. There is no information on porting it for use with linux, and this post claims that they are also of little interest in this.

Many people, even at Microsoft, shut down emacs using csharp mode. If you are productive with emacs, use it! if not, go to the IDE. Notepad is not an option.

If it's just syntax highlighting and basic things, you can go here and see what emacs has to offer. This never interferes with learning Vim / Emacs if you are a * nix user
