Keyboard dynamics in Linux

I am going to implement keypress dynamics (authenticating people based on their patterns) for Linux. As I can see, I have two alternatives:

  • Extend your Linux login to support keystroke dynamics.
  • Create a desktop lock-up program that "locks" the screen and can be unlocked by the driver with a specific input pattern

Is alternative 1 possible? Windows supports an extension of the login process through msgina.dll, does Linux support something like that?

For altenative 2, can I turn off the mouse and keyboard?
