Open / free universal EPG / XMLTV data API or service or how to create it?

I'm looking for (open source, aka "free") data source for universal EPG / XMLTV services?

The project needs updated / updated real-time TV planning information in an easily analyzed format. It MUST also be available for free or a VERY liberal license. Thanks for any tips or alternatives.

I am open to coding my own solution if anyone has any suggestions on where to start.

Annoyingly, apparently NOT a free EPG data provider in the US ... (If you don't consider the OTA EPG signal to be a "provider" ...) (see UPDATEstrong> solution below)

TitanTV.com has a nice, free network, but I don’t think they still provide a feed, even though they were before ....

One beautiful good sound option is .. ZAP2XML

zap2xml is a small and fast command line script for Windows / Linux / OSX / * that connects to the Zap2it.com TV account, downloads the data from the TV grid table and converts .html to XMLTV formatted .xml or XTVD in .xml format

You can not vouch for "zap" personally, but the method / concept sounds, if not their specific implementation ...

If you can download $ 20 a year, the easy way is Schedules Direct, a nonprofit organization that provides EPG for Open Source Software.

Membership costs currently amount to $ 20 per year, with a 7-day free trial. A 2-month membership is also available for $ 5 for those who are reluctant to complete an entire year.

Also, here is a good list of scraper / XMLTV processors.

UPDATE : YAY. I completely hunted for a FREE, and REALLY good solution.

Here I learned how .. to download XMLTV and this fluffy little binary that ends here ...

Now this is how it MUST be. Amen. Just open the resulting XML file in EyeTV, or whatever you have .. and save this suction cup updated via CRON or launchd, etc.

He says that you need to put it in a directory accessible on the Internet, but I don’t understand why ... and also I had to run it for the first time, like this ...

../eyetv/mc2xml -c us -g 10011

with -c us representing where I am from, USA .. and -g 10011 , then bind me to my zip code for harassment and rape ... don't forget to vote, good night everyone!

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/XMLTV has many sources, but they are country specific. Not sure about the universal.

What about MetaBroadcast?

http://metabroadcast.com/products

They support XMLTV, and as far as I know, there are free APIs.
