How to TFS-unmap without losing physical files?

When Unmapping a source in TFS Source Control in Visual Studio 2010, local downloaded files are deleted automatically.

How can I keep them intact?

Nam.

I have not seen such behavior. If you refuse to match, do you want to reload all the files in the workspace? If so, decide not to, and the files should be saved locally. Keep in mind that TFS no longer tracks changes at this point, so you may run into great difficulties if you inadvertently make changes to these files.

What process are you trying to implement, do you need to save these files after canceling the card? Maybe there is another way to accomplish what you need?

- EDIT-- When you do this, files are just files, so you can:

  • make all files in this workspace
  • copy them to another folder on your hard drive.
  • indicate the new folder
  • Make "add files" to the entire contents of the new folder structure
  • register.

In this case, you will have to reinstall all projects / solutions for version control.

In VS2012

"You can delete a mapping in the Manage Workspaces dialog box (File β†’ Source Control β†’ Advanced β†’ Workspaces ...) Select a workspace and select edit, delete the entry for this mapping, then click OK. When you are prompted to get, you can say no, and the items will remain on your local drive until the next get. "

I added additional information to it.

Source: Remove mapping

Just in case, someone will need help with this, because I spent hours looking for a solution ... and this is a way to see all the mappings that you have and delete them if you want, without deleting local files.
