A set of questions related to playing audio / video in java

There are several questions that I wanted to ask related to Java Sound , which are as follows:

  • Is it possible to use xuggler with netbeans?
  • If so, can anyone talk about the exit?
  • What audio and video formats can xuggler decode
  • Is xuggler the best open source library for playing audio and video in java?
  • Is JLayer good library for playing audio files?
  • Can I use JLayer to play video files?

I want my program to play MP3, wav, mp4,3gp files (commonly used), which are the best library to use?

Top down:

  • Yes, what have you tried? I just installed Xuggler and then added banks, and it worked like any other library. There is nothing special to set it up.
  • As above, you should be more specific about what is wrong. It should not require anything special.
  • It depends, but basically something supports ffmpeg. See here for more details.
  • If you are not doing any coding / transcoding work, and all you do is play the video, I would personally say no, this is not the best. It works too low, something like VLCJ is probably the best option if you use process players to make sure everything is working correctly. A little effort to set up, but once you have it there, you should not have problems with stability, and it will support almost any format there.
  • Well, yes, but if you are already using something like VLCJ, then you can handle all that for you.
  • If something is missing for me (correct me if I am wrong) no.
