Cannot create a project or solution in Visual Studio 2010

Therefore, I cannot create any new projects or solutions. I can navigate and discover existing solutions, but I can’t create any new solutions. All help is appreciated. See screenshot below:

Some, like I'm stuck in "project management mode!"

I don’t know how I got there, but it was hell.

I reset my settings and everything was fine.

You can do this by going to the Tools menu> Import and Export Settings> reset all settings

I had the same problem. I changed the location of the project, the location of the template, and the location of the element templates on the local drive that VS could find. This seems to fix my problem. These options can be found under Tools-> Options. Select projects and solutions, and then General.

A small workaround: just press Ctrl + Shift + N and the "New Project" window will appear.

You can try going to "Tools"> "Options"> "Source Control" and then change it to "no" and see if it works. It looks like you are using TFS or something else and are not allowing new projects to be added to the original control.

How I did it, basically it was the same as Stag, but in 2010 all the w70 options can be found in Help> Import and Export Options reset all settings

Have you stopped debugging? If you are not sure, try this: Debug-> Stop Debugging (or else) Ctrl + F5

Then you can create a new project
