Rails 3 new_record? is condemned

I have a Rails 3 application and am planning on using the ActiveRecord new_record method? in my general form, to show the user the Create or Refresh button. I looked at APIDock and for this method, and it says

Deprecated Method: This method is deprecated on the latest stable version of Rails. The latest existing version (v2.3.8) is shown here.

What exactly does this mean? Does this mean that he will no longer be available to move forward?

ActiveRecord :: Persistence does not mention obsolescence ... I believe that APIDock is simply fooled by class restructuring. If the method was obsolete, the rails would generate a warning when it was used.
