Android app revenue

Having made quite a few Android applications for myself (just for fun), I decided to make an application for placement in the google play store. I know that it will be a lot of work, so I do not want to do it for free. I understand that, most likely, I will not do anything without money.

The fact is that I would rather put it for free, and not set a price. I believe that one way to make money is to add and stuff. What is the best service for this? Are there other ways to make money?

Also, are there certain things that need to be done differently to get your application in the game store than when I just develop for myself?

Any understanding of any of them will be appreciated. I do not want to become rich, I just want to see what opportunities there are for my hobby to the next level.
