Playing movies from iTunes using MPMoviePlayerController?

I am trying to play a movie purchased from iTunes. The movie was put into my sandbox through File Sharing / iTunes Transfer. The application uses MPMoviePlayerController or MPMoviePlayerViewController . I can use any of them, but none of them work properly in the iTunes movie.

Below I observe:

  • Check film

    • Purchased from Hillegass (Chapter 20) - OK [1]
    • Purchased from Apple Sample - OK [2]
    • Apple Video Application - OK

  • iTunes Movie

    • No video
    • No sound
    • Silent error in my application [3]
    • Silent failure in Hillegass example [3]
    • Silent rejection in Apple sample [3]
    • Apple Video Application - OK

When the presentation opens, I get a black screen and the PLAY button is available. Pressing PLAY makes the player try to perform the operation, but it does not work (?), And the PLAY button is displayed again.

Checking the status of the video controller indicates that it is ready. When PLAY is listened, the state goes to playback, and then immediately pauses. Repeat play PLAY repeats the cycle again.

During "Finish" → "Playback" → "Paused transitions" I do not receive a notification notification, and I do not receive an error message from other notifications.

I thought orientation might be a problem, but turning or changing the orientation mode causes Xcode to crash.

The Apple documentation does not mention anything special for iTunes movies, protected content, or DRM (maybe I skipped the corresponding document). This seems like a moot point, since the movie was purchased on iTunes, the device is authorized (all under one account), and I am a licensee.

What is NSZombieEnabled YES for, why I don’t believe that I am breaking memory (memory errors are probably absent in Apple and Hillegass samples).

Any ideas on what I can do wrong or how should I play iTunes that I purchased?

DRM protection is a problem.

Apple does not allow DRM-protected music or videos from iTunes to MPMoviePlayerController (including previews).
