I want to know what the "window size" in the TCP header is. Why is it used?

β€œThe transmission control protocol (TCP) receive window size is the maximum amount of received data in bytes that can be buffered at a time on the receiving side of the connection. The sending host can only send this amount of data before waiting for confirmation and window updates from the receiving node.
