Not to mention the fact that the inclusion of a network adapter in the device manager may not help. The following helped me solve the problem.
I tried to disable and enable the Wi-Fi adapter (i.e. the actual adapter of the Wi-Fi device, not the virtual adapters) in Control Panel β Network and Internet β Network Connections . You can do the same with Device Manager. This, of course, resets the adapter settings, Wi-Fi adapters and Virtual Miniport adapters.
However, please make sure that the mode is set to allow , as in the example below, before running the start command.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=ssidOfUrChoice key=keyOfUrChoice
and then run the netsh wlan start hostednetwork .
Also, once use is complete with the Miniport adapter plugged in, it is recommended that you stop it by running the following command.
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
