If you have advanced scripts that the installation and deployment project cannot handle, I would recommend exploring WiX .
WiX is an extremely mature open source Microsoft project, first released in 2004 and still in force. It even provides a VS extension to help you get started and run intellisense for configuration.
Weβll warn you: WiX primarily uses XML files that use the MSI domain language. This, of course, is not a tool that you use unless βcreate an installerβ was specifically highlighted in your project plan.
