I work at 2600hz, I am new to stack overflow, so if I delve into something, let me know.

You can use Kazoo, our open source cloud cloud stack for this, our APIs allow you to do all the signaling and proxies for Facetime-style video communications (we do this for sound calls now, and the video works in our lab but we until you get to our community, you’ll basically need to do QA).

If you want to play with him, I can send an invitation to our hosted cluster, or you can install it directly from our Git repos here: https://github.com/2600hz/kazoo

Yes, there are several solutions:

First of all, there is no Apple API.

Secondly, OpenTok seems to easily solve your problem, client and server.

If you want to implement it yourself, I know Spirit and Vidyo , which are paid VoIP and video packages.

You can also use iDoubs or PJSip , both are open source solutions, but they use the x264 encoder , which is GPL licensed and not good enough for the AppStore.

In any case, for this you need a third-party library, and you should also have a server library (probably a SIP server),

If someone knows more open / paid solutions, share it.
