Safari Web Inspector appearing in a new window by default

I use Chrome and go back and forth between switching to Safari or staying in Chrome. My little problem with Safari, however, is that the web inspector always appears in a new window every time I switch it. I press Command-Option-I and it opens in a new window, and when I press Command-Option-I again, it does not disappear. I love how the web inspector works in Chrome, and I wonder if there is a way to work in Safari the same way.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is a bug in the Safari code base.

Here is the bugreport and they are working on it ( source )!

None of the methods work for me (Safari 9.1) if you want the inspector's dock buttons to show:

  • open terminal
  • type defaults read com.apple.Safari "__WebInspectorPageGroupLevel1__.WebKit2InspectorStartsAttached"

Once you have checked whether it will return 0, do: defaults write com.apple.Safari "__WebInspectorPageGroupLevel1__.WebKit2InspectorStartsAttached" 1

You can click the left-most button in the inspector's status bar, and the inspector is docked.

UPDATE: now the button is on the right . When the Inspector is in a separate window, the two small buttons in the upper right corner go to 1) the lower part of the Safari window 2) on the right side of the Safari window.

The only method that seemed to work for me was to resize in the browser to a size large enough to contain the smallest size of a single window check. For me, this has expanded the browser to a screen width of at least 65%, and then you can "Inspect the item", and by default it would be that the Inspect window will be at the bottom of the browser, and the browser with the Inspect window can now be resized to any size. Hope this helps some people.

I have had a problem for a long time. Here is the solution.

  • Right-click the webpage and select a validation item.
  • The console window will appear in full screen. Minimize the window, as on any Safari web page, and there should be a window as shown below.
  • At the top of the Elements tab, you can see 2 icons. By clicking the icon on the left, open the Console on the right side of the browser and click the icon on the right, open the Console at the bottom of the browser.

Hope this helps.

Follow these steps to fix the safari issue.

  • Go to "Development" β†’ "User Agent" β†’ "Safari" β†’ "Choose iphone" β†’ then click the icon on the right side ...
  • Select it and check, then you will see a button in the upper left corner.
  • Now set the default value by reworking the first point.

Follow the step
