How to change the color of the selected entry in the sidebar of Eclipse?

When the "Character Entry" option is enabled in Eclipse, place the cursor on any type / variable / method / etc., select all occurrences in a text editor and place a weak strip in the correct ruler to show you the location of other occurrences in the file.

Does anyone know where in the settings you can change the color to highlight other occurrences in the side ruler? The color is too weak for me with my current monitor / Windows Aero theme.

I tried going to "Settings"> "General"> "Appearance"> "Color and Fonts" to change the color "Color Labels - Highlight Match", but this does not seem to apply.

Here is a screenshot of what I'm talking about:

The color in the line matches the color selected by the text in the editor. It is set by going to

Settings> General> Editors> Text Editors> Annotations

and offensive and recording color changes.

Right-click the marker and select the only "preferences" menu item, the settings dialog will open: General / Editors / text Editor / Annotation.

  • The color of matching items is used for the matching items,

  • "records" for the item you selected.

Updates are not applied immediately after using the "Apply" button, only after closing with OK and, ultimately, for re-selection.

The panel is called the overview panel or the overview knob (in case you need to refer to it), and, as already mentioned, the color of the inputs can be changed by clicking on the link:

Window > Preferences > General > Editors > Text Editors > Annotations

and color change for events.

One point about Eclipse Juno (most of the other answers seem to be with Indigo) is that the change will not take effect until the program restarts.

You want to change the occurrence and incident log colors. This can be done in the Annotations menu, which is located, as Colin said, in the Settings menu along the way

General> Editors> Text Editors> Annotations

If you have an event marked in the browse line (column to the right of the scroll bar), you can open the Annotations menu by right-clicking on the appearance and choosing Settings in the context menu.

The color of the "entry" is used for instances where the variable is read, but not changed, in the code (for example, k in if(k > 1) ). The color of the "write record" is used when the variable changes / is written to the code (for example, k in k = k + 1 ).

See also the official Eclipse documentation for about half a page (link is for Indigo, but should be good for other recent versions).

Go to the Windows / Preferences / Java / Editor / Mark Occurrences section and check the box "Mark entries of the selected item in the current file."

After changing the color of the inputs, restart the Eclipse IDE
