Is there a detailed format for the MIME header format somewhere?

I looked through probably 100 sites and found nothing. Some of them are only lists of values โ€‹โ€‹of the mime type, other links to RFC or more or less direct quotes from them. RFCs are impervious, and each only discovers one small piece of elephant.

Is there anywhere that gives us a complete picture of the whole elephant (MIME heading), with all the parts attached in the appropriate places?

http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/index.html This is the only link you need!

EDIT: answer in the comments

http://ietf.org/rfc all the text is there, but not very useful, because there are other things. So go to the index: http://ietf.org/rfc/rfc-index and ctrl + f for MIME. This causes 113 hits. Go through the name until you see what you are looking for, then enter the number and get the full text
