How to avoid parser allocation for certain text fragments?

I use textiles to generate HTML for a specific page and in a copy, it is necessary that (c) be created without a copyright symbol. Unfortunately, textiles always do this.

Is there a way in textiles to avoid the analysis that it does to change it (I know that I can put spaces on either side of ā€œcā€, but that doesn't look pretty)?

Using <notextile></notextile> in markdown will cause the analyzer to skip everything that is between these two tags. RedCloth Docs

Also, using (c) will result in (c), not & copy ;.
