How to set default webpage in Umbraco

I recently started using Umbraco, so I hope this doesn't seem silly.

I am trying to set a default webpage on my site, but I have no luck. I recently installed umbraco v 4.7.1.1 along with the blog starter kit, which you can choose when using the setup wizard.

In my "View Content" I have the following structure:

Content (folder)

  • Personal site (folder)
    • Index
    • ABOUT
    • MyTestBlog

When I look at the Properties tab for MyTestBlog, the Template property is set to Blog Post. When I go to www.mytestsite.com, the content on MyTestBlog appears on the default webpage.

I have a Template property for an Index page set to "Textpage". I right-click on the My Site folder and select Sort. In the Sort popup, I dragged the index to the top of the list so that it has a zero sort order (0).

From what I read, everything set as the first item will be the default webpage in Umbraco, but it doesn't seem to be that way. No matter what I try, I can not get Index to become the default web page for the site.

I checked that all web pages were published. Is there something I don’t see or do?

Thanks!

Not a stupid question at all, it is an ordinary stumbling block when he first studies Umbraco. I know that tricked me when I started. Your assumptions are true that Umbraco will display the first node as the default page, but this is the node Personal Site , which is actually the first node.

To fix this, add a property with the alias umbracoInternalRedirectId of the Content Picker data type to your personal site type. Then, select node in the content section so that the default node for the personal site (it does not even have to be the first subnode).

You can usually use the umbracoRedirect property umbracoRedirect , but Umbraco does not resolve this on the first node without problems. umbracoRedirect is safe to use (and generally preferred) for any other node on the site.
