** Two approaches for PHPSTORM 2018.3 Version **

A. Permanent removal or removal from hardware and Phpstorm IDE

Please visit the folder 'PhpstormProjects' and delete the project file manually. If you do so, you will see the folder disappear from Phpstorm explore window. This might be weird, but true.

B. Delete from the recent project panel Phpstorm 2018.3 (the folder will disappear after such a deletion, and creating with the same project name will restore the deletion from the recent project panel.)

  1. Click File > Close project 2. From Recent projects, select project, press the fn(on normal keyboard - key between right Alt and Ctrl, not windows key)+Delete

Backspace helped (Windows 7 + PHPStorm 7.1.3). You might want to try Fn + Backspace .

I know this post is a little old, but for MAC OS X phpStorm 6 *, on the welcome page on the JetBrains PhpStorm page (for recent projects, use the up / down arrow keys to select the project you want to delete, fn + delete.

Greetings

Follow these simple steps:

  • Just start the project using the file menu.
  • Select the project name from the latest projects in the left pane using the up / down arrow keys.
  • Now just press the Del key on your keyboard.

  • Click File> Close Project
  • From the latest projects, select the project, press Fn + Delete on the keyboard.

If you want to completely delete the project, delete the ".idea" folder in the project under Finder. This folder is hidden by default (i: e, because it starts with a dot "."). You will need to enable the "View hidden files / folders" in the Finder

In one window, several projects were opened. Deleted one project by right-clicking β†’ "Delete from project"

It is removed only from the list, and not from the hard drive.

For versions 2017, 2018 or 2019, follow the link:

File-> Open Recent-> Project Management ...

and press X (appears when you hover over a parameter) to remove it from the list of projects. It just removes the link; it does not delete files from disk.

in phpStorm 7 on windows, selecting project / delete, deletes erc files, but DOES NOT remove them from the Recent Projects list. I found that highlighting it and then pressing Backspace is a key combination to remove it from the list! Perhaps this has changed in version 7.

Apparently reactive brains can't solve one way?

For me on Windows 7, highlighting the project and then windowkey + del did the trick

In my PhpStorm 7.1 (OSx), the menu has a link to "Clear List", under "File"> "Open Last", which clears the entire list.

In fact, you cannot DELETE a project by clicking "delete" or "backspace" (or by clicking "x" in the upper right corner) in the last list of projects. These operations only remove the project from the list in the list of recent projects.

You can verify this by looking at the project folders in the directory that creates WebStorm under your username.

By the way, I have WebStorm v.10 running on Win 7 x64, and none of the steps listed here by other users allows me to actually delete the project. The only way I discovered is through a guide.

This will work, at least on Windows 7:

Go to the "WebstormProjects" directory under your Windows username and delete the project directory. This will remove it from the list of recent projects the next time you start WebStorm.

  • Select a project in the project view
  • Modify β†’ Remove Project from View

Alternatively, click Delete.

(Keymap settings by default)

year 2019. PhpStorm v2018.3.5 - I can not disconnect the project after joining. There is no "Close Project" in the "File" menu, and there is no "Remove from Project View" in the context menu, as the documentation says. It seems like a mistake.

I just can’t get rid of the additional project that I attached. Only one thing helped: remove .idea .
