The difference between RTC and RTC_WAKEUP in android

I am new to android, I have to perform some operation every 30 minutes, whether my application is working or not, so I want to perform this operation using the service and alarm manager, any example or work will be useful

Use RTC_WAKEUP if you want your service to perform some operation every 30 minutes, because RTC_WAKEUP will wake the device and fulfill the pending intent. RTC, on the other hand, delivers intent only when the device wakes up.
