Can Tridion 2011 SP1 Update Rollup 1 work with CM without updating the CD?

We recently upgraded (very successfully) to Tridion 2011 SP1. I want to install Content Porter 2009 SP2, and for this I need to use Update Rollup 1.

Summary of corrections 1 is divided into 3 parts:

  • DB Script
  • Content manager
  • Content Delivery

Is it possible to install DB Script and Content Manager Hotfix, but not content delivery? I ask because our deployment process for content delivery files is much more active than for Content Manager (and therefore will take longer).

The delivery side HR1 provides about 10 corrections, of which no one is looking or changing the way they are published. Thus, it will follow that you can update CM without (yet) updating the CD.

However, in order to remain fully supported, you must make sure that the gap between CM and CD updates is minimal and needs to be closed (often forgotten about this). Emerging problems may not be supported if support is not supported (in advance) with the update process.

I would also advise you to do this first in a test or development environment to ensure that CD-side publishing and rendering work when CM HR1 and CD are not.
